‘With Honors’ Schools Us On Who Serves Us

“The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.” –

H. L. Mencken

The quote, and the featured image of this post, shown above… they were both chosen to set the tone of what I’m about to observe here.

Namely that in a very odd-duck kind of way, newer generational minds born in the “land of the free” (ironic) have been programmed with this core numb belief:

That higher authorities, outside the limits of family figure heads, are in place for our betterment; that government officials are on standby for our every need.

Yup, you read correctly. And, moreover, some young adults will even go so far as to flat out tell you [paraphrased from several bits of dialogue with the Statist mind]:

I’m not interesting in thinking outside the boundaries and protocols of my chosen party (90% of the time, progressive liberals; and/or anyone who loathes self-responsibility and fears failure of their own actions).

The leaders we elected are paid to take care of my basic needs, including my safety and my overall health.

This isn’t something I’ve observed in a twisted fiction book about socioeconomic or philosophical politics. It is the type of ass-backwards thinking that has caused many to have no incentive, nor vested interest, in governing their own affairs.

Which is why when this clip, from the 1994 movie With Honors, came to my attention today, I thought it to be very prescient to where we’d be some 20+ years later.

This is a hidden, underrated Joe Pesci scene. And his character’s message then should be soaked in and accepted by those today who truly believe, like the professor he’s taking to task, that TPTB (The Powers That Be) are here to rule us.

On a very related note, over to my financial research / industry colleague Chris Campbell for a question:

Who’s Afraid of the ‘Great Reset’?

In his book, COVID-19: The Great Reset, the founder of the World Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab, says the virus crisis is an “opportunity.”

Not just any opportunity.

Though Schwab has been pushing his great reset for years…

“We” finally, he says, have an opportunity to make his dream a reality for us all — the type of opportunity which can be seized “to make the kind of institutional changes and policy choices that will put economies on the path toward a fairer, greener future.”

Fairness is good. A “greener” economy sounds nice.

For good measure, Schwab litters his book with several more feel-good buzzwords: Economic equality. Fairness. Inclusion. Shared destiny!

But what is the Great Reset, really? When rubber meets road, what kind of sweeping changes is Schwab really imagining in his mind’s eye? That’s more difficult to truly pin down.

“The Great Reset,” Michael Rectenwald writes, taking a stab at it from the digital halls of the Mises Wire, “means reduced incomes and carbon use. But Schwab and the WEF also define the Great Reset in terms of the convergence of economic, monetary, technological, medical, genomic, environmental, military, and governance systems. The Great Reset would involve vast transformations in each of these domains, changes which, according to Schwab, will not only alter our world but also lead us to question what it means to be human.’”

What it Will Take

In order to make the Schwabbian dream a concrete reality, however, says Rectenwald, it will entail radical changes in the way we govern, do business, make money, and plan for the future.

Boiled down, it will require…

1. Increasingly centralized, and wildly expanded global government power

2. The further Frankensteinian hybridization of corporations and states into a blobbery mass of “mutant capitalism”

3. Heroic doses of hormone therapy for Big Brother, with predictive algorithms and the total surveillance and micro-management

4. The rise of Minority Report-like, A.I.-driven “anticipatory governance”

Schwab’s visioneering, in short, says Rectenwald, is little more than a “propaganda campaign shrouded under the cloak of inevitability.”

And it’s Doomed to Fail

Tomorrow, we’ll go into more details about why the grand global plans of “Santa Klaus” will amount to little more than a few lumps of coal.

Today, we raise the possibility of a smarter, brighter, future.

Last year, a well-known tech expert made a strange, eyebrow-raising prediction which happens to fly directly in the face of the Schwabbian “Great Reset”…

In short, he predicted a much different “reset” is on the horizon.

Back then…

Most people missed it… or ignored it.

Now, though, those ears “in the know” are fully perked.

Yes, this prediction also had to do with the disruption of the global economy…

And, yes, what it means for the way you currently do business, save money, make money, and plan for the future.(But, no, it has nothing to do with Santa Klaus and his little elves.)

The details on what it might look like — and how you could position yourself to rake in an absolute fortune when the “reset” hits — are all laid out for you in one place.

Click here to see it for yourself.
